A motor is an electrical device that creates propulsion for an RC vehicle. Gas-powered engines are also sometimes referred to as motors, though the term is generally reserved for the electric variety. Motors create motion by passing electricity through a series of wires that interact with magnets to move a dive shaft. Motors are cylindrical in shape, and vary greatly in size and weight. They can be used to power tiny cars and trucks, boats, helicopters, and even giant-scale airplanes. RC motors are usually powered by NiCd or Lipo batteries through an ESC. The two main types of motor are brushed and brushless.
