Helpin out....
Lloo,
I took the "apparent" liberty of adding some links to very valuable tools and resources on RCUniverse.com. I'm not trying to spam the board here, but the level of development and sophistication to make the tools on RCU is well beyond a text-based Wiki board and I thought it would benefit visitors here.
If you would like, I can provide you with various content feeds for your site:

Hi!
Just discovered the link to this site over at rcgroups.com. Someone there found the Wikipedia article I did on the ParkZone P-51D and started a small thread. One of the posters mentioned this site and I thought I'd join up.
Looks like your site is more of a "how-to" than either Wikipedia or the Wikicities radio control wiki. OK with you if I transfer some more of my more encyclopedic work over here?
I'm the single most active user/admin/bureaucrat at the R/C wiki and a former administrator at Wikipedia with more than 20,000 edits and six featured articles to my credit under the screen name "Lucky 6.9" (a reference to my Mercedes-Benz 6.9 and not quite a "lucky seven"). I dropped out of Wikipedia on my own and in good standing. - PMDrive1061 12:11, 13 March 2006 (EST)
Hi and Welcome!
You are more than welcome to contribute to this site. I had a brief look at some of your atricles and they are very well written. We can always use help, especially from someone with the background and experience you have. Thanks! --Leon 12:28, 13 March 2006 (EST)
- Consider it done. More stuff on the way. As I add to Wikicities, I'll make the same additions here and vice versa. Thnaks for the compliment! :) - PMDrive1061 14:20, 13 March 2006 (EST)
- Hi, thanks for all the good stuff! We're going to have to work out what to do when it replaces/duplicates somewhat sketchy stuff that's buried in other articles, and work out how to link the new stuff into the front page.--RobinBennett 17:04, 13 March 2006 (EST)
- I think you're right, that front page is getting pretty full. It's all good stuff but it might be a little overwhelming for the casual reader.--Leon 17:30, 13 March 2006 (EST)
LOL!
Just a mini-virtual vacation, I'm afraid. No biggie. :) In fact, I'm about to patch a slight error on an article. Some vacation, eh? - PMDrive1061 22:14, 29 March 2006 (EST)
Back for more...
Ah, me...just too tempting to stay away. The R/C wiki was just savaged by an idiot kid on a school IP in Florida. Too much work to let a loser like that screw it up. Still had my admin privileges, so I blocked the range. Mwaahaahaa!!
Anyway, I'll be here again but I'm limiting my time on line. Thanks for the nice notes on my talk page. Happy Easter! - PMDrive1061 16:35, 10 April 2006 (EDT)
Updating Main Page
i have been updating the main page and hope you like it. thanks --TrentD 08:05, 7 December 2007 (MST)
Can I be a Administrator
i love the website site and would like to be a Administrator. as i would like to work on this site and is happy to update the main page. Thanks
I do like it! Looks really sharp. Even though I'm in IT, I'm not much of a design person so I really appreciate the time/effort you're putting into the main page. The only thing I'd change is the external links, I'd like to see those lower in the page. Keep up the great work! It's fantastic having people from all over the world contributing.
Regarding the request to become an administrator, let me think about it for a bit. To be honest I'm not really sure what rights and priviliges being an administrator provides so I'm going to have to do a bit of research first. --Leon 08:40, 7 December 2007 (MST)
your idea
ok good idea i will put those external links at the bottom of the page. thanks
Hi, stranger!
Been away far too long, mostly because I've broken my own promise and started back in to editing Wikipedia. Lots of playing with nitro planes as of late, but I still love my electrics, especially the Goldberg Yak-54. Good stuff. Glad to see the site expanding and I'm glad to help out again. Talk to ya soon. --PMDrive1061 17:14, 11 June 2008 (MDT)
Hey, it's good to see you return. Your contributions are always welcome.--Leon 17:17, 18 June 2008 (MDT)
New editor, questions about captcha and short URLs
Hello:
I've started editing this wiki in earnest after discovering a lack of a centralized place for RC information. I'm focusing on the Blade electric helicopter products as this is where my experience lies. I'm a fan of small edits (which are much easier to rollback to remove only specific changes), but the cat-identifying captcha (while undeniably cute) is slowing down my editing. I'm also attempting to get more support from the HeliFreak forums, as there is a lot of information being stored there that is difficult to access easily (as with most forums). Is there any way to exclude users from the captcha who either pass an edit threshold or are manually authorized? Thanks! —GeneralAntilles 08:07, 11 April 2012 (MDT)
I appreciate the large edits as well as the small and will do what I can to accommodate. I'm not a programmer so the options I have are limited, however I'll do some investigation and see what I can come up with. Thanks. --Leon 12:45, 11 April 2012 (MDT)
- The ConfirmEdit Configuration section seems to cover the required setup:
- To skip captchas for users that confirmed their email, you need to both set:
$wgGroupPermissions['emailconfirmed']['skipcaptcha'] = true; $ceAllowConfirmedEmail = true;
- Anyway, it's not serious. So take your time. Thanks! :)--GeneralAntilles 21:01, 11 April 2012 (MDT)
That would be nice, but even just making the pictures larger would make the cats easier to spot - it's a pain to have to mouseover each one. --RobinBennett 13:17, 11 April 2012 (MDT)
OK, I made the change to bypass the captcha for email confirmed users. If I see an increase in unmanageable spam I may have to reinstate it. Let me know if this change works.--Leon 10:01, 19 April 2012 (MDT)
- Just noticed it, and it works perfectly! Thank you so much. :) —GeneralAntilles 14:30, 19 April 2012 (MDT)
Trying to drum up more contributors, but new users (who are email confirmed) are still seeing the CAPTCHA. Is there an edit count requirement or similar that's also in play? —GeneralAntilles 20:11, 19 June 2012 (MDT)
Cat hype
Why does one have to choose these annoying cat pics _every time_? I understand if this be checked once, but one will not edit content here anymore if he is treated like an idiot. --Copterconcept 12:59, 6 May 2012 (MDT)
Apologies for the cat craziness, however in the past we've been hit quite heavily with automated spammers who seemed to be able to sail past other captchas, the cat captcha was the only one which seemed to bring the spamming to an end. I realize it'a a pain for legitimate contributors so I will renew my efforts in trying to find another solution. I won't be able to look into it right away, but will do so in about two weeks. BTW thanks for your contributions they are appreciated.--Leon 20:27, 19 June 2012 (MDT)
